RML Chief Engine Engineer Arnaud Martin wins Race Tech’s Race Engine Designer of the Year prize

ZURICH – WELLINGBOROUGH, 19th January 2012 – Arnaud Martin, the French engineer who designed and developed the 1.6 turbo engine for the 2011 WTCC World Champion Chevrolet Cruze, has won the much-coveted Race Engine Designer of the Year award. Arnaud received this well-deserved recognition, awarded by the reputed publication Race Tech, from the magazine’s Publishing Director Soheila Kimberley during the Race Tech World Motorsport Symposium.

Arnaud, Chief Engine Engineer at RML, the team that runs the Chevrolet Cruzes in the World Touring Car Championship, produced an entirely new 1.6 litre engine scratch. The results obtained by the Cruze with Arnaud’s engine are impressive – a staggering 21 wins in 24 races, every single pole position and the car led for more than twice as many laps as all the other teams combined. This success is magnified when considering that Arnaud and his small team of engineers produced it in just eight months on a limited budget.

It was this inspiring achievement that edged Arnaud ahead of an ultra competitive and highly qualified list of nominees, including Rob White (Renault F1), Ulrich Baretzky (Audi Motorsport) and Francois Coudrain (Peugeot Sport).
