Traditionally German spring and suspension manufacturer Eibach celebrated its 60th year in the industry recently, with a party that brought together business partners, friends and employees from all corners of the globe.
The firm, which is owned by the Eibach family, has grown from humble roots six decades ago, to become a recognized market leader in most high-tech spring areas, supplying some of the greatest names in the automotive and many other industries.
As you might expect from a company that has factories and/or engineering and distribution centres on five continents and partners all over the world, the guest list was a truly eclectic mix of nations, with over 30 countries and territories being represented and literally hundreds of guests enjoying the legendary Sauerland hospitality. A wide variety of events were laid on for guests, offering them a real slice of traditional German life over the four-day-weekend. Although key note presentations were made by new global CEO Julian Gill and Chairman Wilfried Eibach, the emphasis really was on enjoying the culture, food and drink from the Sauerland region.
Guided factory tours were given to show Eibach’s investment in the latest production technology, followed by a hiking tour of the picturesque environs of Finnentrop - Eibach’s home town. Fine dining, music and dancing figured highly on a nightly basis, with the local delicacies and tipples being much appreciated by all attendees. One activity that really seemed to be a big hit, was the traditional German “Sch¸tzenfest”, especially organized by Eibach for this event, where guests lined up to shoot at a wooden bird, hoisted high into the air. Points were awarded for shooting off ceremonial adornments, such as a crest (won by Malaysia), orb (won by Austria) and scepter (won by Russia). But the true honour goes to whoever makes the bird fall from its frame. Some 95 shots later it was one of Eibach’s Chinese guests that was crowned “Sch¸tzenkˆnig” (the King) and had the honour – next to the chosen “Sch¸tzenkˆnigin” (the Queen) from the US - of leading the party of some 400 people behind a full brass band, through the village and onto the evening’s celebrations.
Commenting on the celebrations, Julian Gill said: “Eibach is a unique company in the way that it does business and I think our 60th celebration really epitomizes what we’re all about. We often talk about the Eibach ‘family’ – our customers, distributors and partners, and this event really allows us to get together and celebrate our appreciation for what we have all achieved together. It allows us to spend quality time with the people that make our business what it is and give something back to the families and communities around the Finnentrop factory that have really made a difference over the last six decades.”
Wilfried Eibach concluded: “Some guests even said that Eibach does not only stand for excellent products, a global network of friends – the Eibach family – but that Eibach is even a way of life.”
Swantje Eibach rounds up: ”The first weeks of our future – the next 60 years – are already history. We are going under full speed towards our 65th anniversary in 2016. “Auf Wiedersehen in Finnentrop!”
